  • Mao Zedong takes control of China

    Mao Zedong was a chinese man that supported a communist country whis was an advantage for Russia.

  • Korean War

    This was a conflict between korean political partys where russia supported 1 half and the united nations supported the others.

  • Vietnam War

    the americans supported the french in trying to get rid of communists but the french lost and so we lost the war too.

  • Soviet Invasion of Hungary

    Soveits where occuping peaceful teritory to gain land and create a boundry from germany.

  • Fidel Castro Takes Over Cuba

    Castro was agianst america and soon was able to deny americans entrence.

  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    This was an attempt to take Cuba to expand the USA by over taking Cuba's government and over throwing Fidel Castro.

  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    This was an attempt by Russia and Cuba to create missles that could cause signifigant damage to the united states in Cuba. But the events where captured by a spy plane before they could be fully built.

  • Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia

    This is when a political group of soviets attacked Czechoslovakia with around 500,000 troops and was able to completely capture it.

  • SALT Treaty Talks

    The SALT treaty talks where first used to minimize the amount of misiles and nucleur misiles Russia and the USA had. each country did this by creating ABM systems to monitor each countrys production of misiles.

  • Nixon Visits China

    Nixon went over to China to create new bonds in China. It was the first time an american president went over to china.

  • Revolution in Iran

    This was the overthrowing of the islamic monarchy and replacing it with a republic government. The resistantance was able to overthrow the monarchy with a series of street battles.

  • Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan

    This was a ten year war where the soviet union supported the marxist group in a democratic government. They also help them start neutrallizing resistance in the area.

  • Iran/Iraq War

    This is when Iraq attacked Iran trying to create a way to the persian gulf. But this attempt was struck down when iran went on the offensive and was able to reclaim almost all there land.

  • Mikhail Gorbachev takes control of USSR

    He helped end the cold war and was one of the only russian leaders to visit china since the 1960's

  • Civil War in Nicaragua

    this is a set of war between the ortaga government and the Contra government which quickly led to peace talks.

  • Fall of the Berlin Wall

    The berlin wall was a ristriction for the countrys and when it was taken down people ran for other parts of their country and after this democracy started to overrun communist.

  • Soviet Union Falls Apart

    Soveit union declares the fall of the communist partys and ended the cold war.
