some cattle weere sold .for the cost of transport from the mississippi river.and others were driven to missouri for shipment to rail to eastern markets. -

in the 1800s a man invented branding so he could tell what cows were his. before this he would lose them .and unfortionatly that made him lose money so that helped a lot. -

cattle ranching started to become a lage thing .and it went all across texas.it was verry useful. -
King ranch is established
king ranch started in 1852. and now it has gone verry far and has made a big success.it was bought when king died. -

spanish colanizer jose de escone established several large land grantsalong the rio grande,those who recived these grants formed ranches. and led a way of life known as Charro culture. -
cattle raising increased after mexico gained control of texas.

The civil war has finally ended. and the world is at least at a little bit of peace.it was better than cannons everywhere. -

the chisolm trail was one of the great cattle trails. hearders could get more cattle through it than any other trail in the us.that is how they got so many accross. -

when the chisolm trail opened .it was one of the most succesfol trais in the state of texas. and it had more cattle driven on it than ever before. -

the trail started north of san antonio .and accross the rio grande.at doans crossing and headed to dodge city in western kansas. -

king ranch was passed over. it was bought out y two men who needed a ranch for cattle.it was sold because king died. -
babed wire is invented
when barbed wire was invented. they put it around their land to keep people from stealing cattle. and other goods on this land and they decreased as they had the change. -
charro culture began
the charro culture began when when mexico gained control of texas. they formed ranches and started their own way of life.it was a verry succsessful culture. -
cattle brand letters were invented
they used letters so that cattle theives would not change the brand or make up excuses.now when cattle were stolen they could tell if they were theirs. they could also do this to horses. -

after the comanches in west texas had been defeated. Charles Good Knight and his partner Jhon Adair established Ja Ranch. and the Palo duro canion. -

when the six million head of cattle went to abeline .it made more of a success because of the chisolm trail was opened. they could get more cattle accross it than any other trail. -

fence cutting became a big problem .because people would want another cow or an other animal .so they would cut though fences to get them. -
there was more than one million head of sheep on this land
when they expanded this land the had sheep on it .and that was there natural habitat. so they put the sheep to some good use and used their whool for clothes and other good things. -

tranching began to decline because of a drought.people were losing the only animals they had. the ranching industry began to decline very rapidly. -

when fence cutting became even more of a problem. they stopped it by passing a law that said fence cutting is a problem.people finally got ahold of things. -

king got really old and it was just his time to die. when he died he had no relatives to give the ranch to. he had to sell the place for a high amount.
