The re-capture of Jerusalem was extremley important to the christians of the middle east.Jerusalem would later be lost,and re-captured by the christians to the muslims.

    The Mongolian Army seiged and ransacked the capital of what we now know as Iraq. The estimated death toll is thought to be from 100,000-1,000,000 people. Completly destroying the landscape surrounding the city with bodies and burnt houses.

    4 years after the end of the Holocaust the United Nations created Isreal, a jewish state in which the jews of the Holocaust could call home. The day that Isreal declared its independence the Arab Armies immediatlly attacked, war still ravages this holy land to this day.

    The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries place an Oil "Embargo" on the U.S for resupplying the Isreal Military during the "Yom Kippur War". Sending the U.S on a downward spiral, the price for Oil went from $3 a barrel to $30 a barrel!

    In 1979 fundamentalists in Iran took over the country and stormed a U.S embassy near by, taking 52 American hostages. A further rescue attempt of them was disastrous as a plane carrying U.S commandos that was headed to the embassy to free the hostages went down in a sand storm.

    On Christmas in 1979 Soviet Paratroopers landed in Kabul, The capital of Afghanistan. The United States being in the "Cold War" with the Russians supplied a local resistance group called the "Mujahideen" with weapons. Many of which are used against us now. By 1982 the russians withdrew from Afghanistan.

    Iraq invades Iran after a long history of border disputes. The other Middle Eastern Countries were worried that that saddam would try to invade their countries. But after 2 years Iraq was being drawn back and for the next 6 years Iran was on the offensive.

    On September 11, 2001 19 Saudi Arabian men hijacked 4 Air-liners. Their targets were the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and possibly the white house. This act of terror was the cause of the invasion of Iraq in march of 2003. Which is still currently active.

    An islamist group called Fatah al-Islam and the Lebanese Army were fighting for over 3 months for a Palestinian refugee camp Nahr al-Bared where over 400 people were killed. It was the most fierce fighting the Lebanese Army had seen sence their 1975-90 civil war.
