    Muhammad's birth
    Muhammad was born in a town called Mecca. His name comes from the Arabic verb hamada which means, "to praise, to glorify." He was an only child and was rasied by his mother. He went to battle when he was twenty, he didn't actually fight, his job was to hand arrows to his uncles. Muhammad died in 632 AD.

  • OPEC

    OPEC
    This organization was created at the Baghdad Conference by Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. OPEC headquarters were in Geneva and Switzerland in the first five years. OPEC stands for The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. Their goal was to unify petroleum polices, in order to lock in fair and stable prices of petroleum producers.

    The Iranian Hostage Crisis
    This crisis started on November 4th, 1979 when 53 Americans were held hostage for 444 days, so they were let out on January 20th, 1981. In 1979, the Fundamentals took over Iran and they tried to arrest the Shah, but the U.S. helped him escape. Also, the U.S. Embassy in Tehran was taken over. This crisis marked the beginning of the U.S. legal action.
  • Gulf War

    The Gulf War started on August 2 1990 and ended on February 28 1991. It is also known as the FIrest Gulf War. Kuwait invaded Iraq troops in 1990 and President Bush sent American Forces to Saudi Arabia and he wanted and urged other countries to send their forces to join.

    They were Islamic Fundamentalists that governed Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001. This group instituted a strict form of Sharia law. All schools were closed and all women had to wear burqas. The Taliban had many ideas in common with the terrorist group, al-Qaeda. The Taliban gave support to al-Qaeda and allowed training camps in Afghanistan and this is way the U.S attacked Afghanistan in 2001.

    This was an attack on The Time Towers of The World Trade Center and The Pentagon. There were 19 hijackers and they were all Middle Eastern. The majority of them were from Saudi Arabia but the leader was from Egypt. These people were a group of terrorists call al-Qaeda. They attacked these places with four planes that they had hijacked. 9-11 was the beginning towards the attack on Afghanistan.

     Nebuchadnezzar II ), destroys Jerusalem
    (didn't get a day and month) According to the Bible he conquered Jerusalem and sent Jews to exile. He took over Jerusalem after a siege of over 2 years. Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem and sent the remaining of the population to Babylon.
