  • Haitian Independence

    Haitian Independence
    It was one of the largest and most successful slave rebellions located in the western hemisphere. The Haitian Revolution had succeeded in ending slavery and also French control of the colony.
  • Congress of Vienna

    Congress of Vienna
    The goal of the Congress of Vienna was to balance the power between countries of Europe and to have peace throughout the nation. The congress was successful in achieving they're a goal for peace throughout Europe it was left almost undisturbed for almost 40 years.
  • End of the Franco Prussian War

    End of the Franco Prussian War
    Louis Napoleon got defeated and the Treaty of Frankfurt am main was signed ending the Franco Prussian War. Prussia won the war.
  • Conference of Berlin

    Conference of Berlin
    This was a meeting with European nations that was to help create rules on how you can peacefully divide Africa among them for colonization. The conference helped to result in regulating European colonization and trade that was in the period of new imperialism.
  • Boxer Rebellion

    Boxer Rebellion
    The Boxer Rebellion was an event that was against foreigners and it was begun by peasants but eventually was supported by the government. A Chinese secret society who was known as the Boxers drove out all the foreigners from China.
  • Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand

    Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand was what caused Austria- Hungary to strike the first blow all of the European powers had dropped to fall in line to defend their alliances. The assassination had lead to World War 1 the Europeans were ready and prepared for war.

    World War 1
    Major causes of World War 1 included alliances being divided into competing camps, nationalistic feelings, diplomatic failures, imperialism, competition over colonies and militarism. On July 28th Austria- Hungary declared war on Serbia and tenuous peace that was between Europe's great powers had collapsed.
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    Sinking of the Lusitania
    This was an important event in World War 1. The Lusitania was approaching the coast of Ireland and it was almost nearly there when it reached a dangerous point and it was spotted by a German u boat U-20 and the Germans moved in and attacked the boat and fired torpedos at it and the outrage caused the boat to sink.
  • Russian Civil War

    Russian Civil War
    The Russian Civil War was fought between reds (Bolsheviks/Communists) v. Whites (Nationalists/anti-Bolsheviks). During 1918 the Red Army was led by Leon Trotsky and the and his army assassinated Czar and the whole Romanov family. The fighting lasted for three years and in 1921 the reds won.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles
    The treaty was signed to end World War 1 in such a way the victorious Entente powers would be satisfied from. It ended World War 1 between Germany and the allied power. The treaty required Germany to have it pay a huge sum of reparations.
