This law was of many federal United States laws. It gave a applicant freehold title up to 160 acres of undeveloped land outside of the original 13 colonies. -

Pendleton Act
This act was signed by Chester A. Authur who had become a ardent reformer after Garfields assasination. -

time zones could be divided in standard and daylight saving. This could schedule multiple trains or single tracks. -
Dawes Act
This allowed the president to break up reservation land which was held by the memebers of a tribe. -
Sherman Anti-Trust Act
First measure passed by the U.S. Congress to prohibit trusts it was named for Senator John Sherman. -
Battle of Wounded Knee
This event shook the Native American community, and could have been the final act that resulted in the eventual depletion of the Native population and culture. -
Ellis Island opens
Their were 12 million people that entered the United States through Ellis Island. Ellis Island is still in the upper part of New York Bay. -
