  • Barriers

Jargon "unfamiliar and/or technical terms"(textbook 10) can be a barrier in communication as not everyone will understand it.
Language is another obvious barrier as they won't understand what you are saying.
A more common everyday barrier is your listening skills "lack of attention, interest"(textbook 10). Sometimes just looking interested will help.
  • How to avoid Problems

A lot of the time problems can be solved by getting past some of the barriers, have a good attitude towards people. When talking try to use plain words, so no slang as not everyone is familiar with those terms. Look at things from the others view, "differences in perception and viewpoint "(textbook 10).
  • My Failure

A time I did not handle a conflict well was when I was in line in the mall and someone had cut in front of me. Instead of asking the person why they did that or to politely move I yelled at them and told them to get to the back. When she had turned around she was very mad, she said in an accent that she was. She later explained that where she was from this would have been the end of the line. Instead of yelling I should have explained and not let my temper get the best of me.
