    The Temperance Movement was a push done mainly by married women and Christian churches to end alcohol drinking. Their main goal behind this was to end domestic abuse done by intoxicated husbands.

    The 18th Amendment granted victory to those who battle for prohibition by banning alcohol. This event was widely loved by money but it also made a lot of men who just wanted to drink a little criminals when they did.

    Al Capone was the one of the most famous and most successful mobsters in history. He made almost all of his money on the illegal selling of alcohol to the the people of Chicago during the prohibition era. Al Capone's distribution of alcohol made many common people criminals.

    The St. Valentines Day Massacre was the a killing done by the Capone gang against a rival gang. Capone's gang executed 5 of the rival gangs member and it horrified the people of Chicago that this was all done over illegal liquor.

    Black Tuesday was the stock market crash that occurred in 1929. It symbolized the end of the Roaring 20's and led to the Great Depression of the 1930's that would be ultimately ended by WWII.

    The Great Depression left the country with no money. Some of the only people that were had a lot of money were the gangsters who were selling illegal alcohol. This let to some government officials to try and end prohibition so the could tax liquor.

    "When prohibition was introduced, I hoped that it would be widely supported by public opinion and the day would soon come when the evils effects of alcohol would be recognized. I have slowly and reluctantly come to believe that this has not been he result. Instead drinking has generally increased; the speakeasy has replaced the saloon; a vast army of lawbreakers has appeared; many of our best citizens have openly ignored prohibition; respect for the law has been greatly lessened."

    The 21st Amendment was proposed in February of 1933 in order to stop common people from being criminals and so they could tax the alcohol, ultimately bring in more revenue for the country during the Depression.
