Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. This happened after the assassination of William McKinley, but he did run again for a second term. In 1904 he won the race, and started his second term. There was a Nobel Peace Prize that Roosevelt won for negotiating to end the Russo-Japanese War, and he was going to begin construction on the Panama Canal. In 1912 after his presidency he ran for president at the head of a new Progressive Party, but he failed.
