    This era started with the Galveston Hurricane hitting on September 8, 1900. After the huge destruction with the hurricane, all of the industries in Galveston moved inland to Houston causing it to grow rapidly. In 1918, the Reform Movements started to be put together. The first movement in 1918 was the 18th Ammendment, causing all alcoholic beverages to stop being produced and distributed. The second reform was the 19th Ammendment in 1920, giving women legal suffrage. People got more freedom.

    Oil Discovery

    The big oil discovery started with the huge oil strike at Spindletop on January 10, 1901. Oil quickly became a huge part of the Texas economy. Social qualities in Texas started to change in 1026 after the Houston Ship Channel opens in 1914. About the same time of the social changes, oil was discovered in Wink, Texas, where many huge colleges were built. After even more discovery, Columbus M. Joinder strikes oil in Rusk County. Texas was bringing in most of the oil, but it soon became less used.

    WW1 began when archduke Franz Ferdinand was assasinated and war broke out between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Fights started with the revolution in Mexico in 1910 and Villa killing Americans because he wasn't being recognized as ruler.The U.S. came into the war after the sinking of the Lusitania on May 7, 1915 and the Zimmerman Telegram in January of 1917. The U.S. joined on April 6, 1917. The war ended and Germany signed the Treaty of Versallies on June 28, 1919 to officially end the war.

    It started with the stock market crash in 1929 when the U.S. becomes bankrupt. In 1931 major banks start collapsing. In 1932, Roosevelt is elected president and the New Deal Begins.The Dust Bowl starts in 1932 and ends in 1941. In the middle, 1934, the "Share our Wealth Society" os formed to make sure everyone has money. The Dust Bowl kills crops and cows, but eventually ends.

    WWII all starts when Germany invades Poland on September !, 1939 because Germany wanted back the land that they lost in WWI. Two days later, France and Britian daclare war on Germany. After the war starts, Japan attacks Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 killing many innocent people. Three years later, the Allied Power invade France (D-Day) on June 6, 1944, the turning point of the war. About a year later, the US drops and atomic bomb on two Japanese cities. The war ends and recovery starts.
