    World War I started when the Franz Ferdinand and his pregnant wife Sophie got assassinated in Serbia by the 'Black Hand'. Because of this, Austria declared war on Serbia. Germany decided to side with Austria while Russia sided with Serbia, thus starting the First World War. Eventually other European countries joined in with the war, creating two separate sides: The Allies (Russia, the British Empire, and France) and The Central Hand (Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, and the Ottoman Empire).
