    EVENT: Christopher Columbus set out on his first voyage to what he thought was going to be Asia, but ended up being the ¨New World¨ (America) instead.
    FACT CHECK: The three ships that were used for the voyage were the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.
    CONNECTION: People today are still working towards ¨improving¨ America and not necessarily taking over other countries but Americanizing them.
    RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ [I rate this movie a 4 because it kept me pretty entertained]

    Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
    PURPOSE- In 1810, they took Ludwig Van Beethoven from Germany, while he was playing the piano, because they needed a historic person for their project. The music of Beethoven is still listened to today and has been a influence on many people.     EVENT: Solomon Northup, a free man, was taken into slavery in 1841. While ¨becoming¨ a slave he was forced to take on the name Platt.
    FACT CHECK: Many people were forced to change their names while in slavery.
    CONNECTION: People today are still forced to do things that are seen as wrong to a lot of other people.

    EVENT: During Abraham Lincoln's term of presidency, the Civil War, fought to determine the fate of slavery, began and ended.
    FACT CHECK: Lincoln really did believe that slavery was morally wrong but in order to keep his presidency he had to side with the most popular side.
    CONNECTION: There are still conflicts in today's world that lead to worse things such as war.

    EVENT: Sam Krichinsky arrived in Baltimore on the fourth of July, thinking that the celebrations were to welcome him there.
    FACT CHECK: The movie showed the struggles of immigration and getting use to the American life, and in real life it was pretty normal for immigrants to go through these things.
    CONNECTION: Some people, whether immigrants or not, have struggles with fitting in or getting use to certain activities or events.
    RATING:⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (The movie was pretty entertaining.)

    FACT CHECK: The movie shows soldiers in trenches and during WW1 there really was trench warfare.
    CONNECTION: Electronic communications are used in today's military, like how telegraphic wires were used during WW1.
    RATING:⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (The movie was educational but it was sort of difficult to follow.)

    EVENT: Sometime around 1936, the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl were occurring. The Joad family was forced out of their home and forced on the road to look for work.
    FACT CHECK: Many people were homeless and jobless during the time of the depression.
    CONNECTION: In today's world, people struggle to find a job and keep one.
    RATING:⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ( The movie was okay. Some parts were entertaining but other parts were kind of slow)

    EVENT: During World War II, thirteen black cadets were selected to be a part of an experiment, at the Tuskegee institute, to become fighter pilots for the army.
    FACT CHECK: The red tail squadron was a real group of African American pilots.
    CONNECTION: Some people sacrifice themselves or their time for others- like lightning sacrificed himself.

    CONNECTION: People are taken against their will, whether it be kidnapping, sex-trafficking or anything else.

    EVENT: Forrest Gump was enlisted into the U.S Army and was sent to Vietnam to fight in the Vietnam war.
    FACT CHECK: During the Vietnam war, there was an estimated amount of 58,220 casualties.
    CONNECTION: Many lives were risked and lost for our country, just like they still are.
    RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐(The movie was funny and entertaining)

    Mandela: Long walk to freedom
    EVENT: Nelson Mandela was a man in South Africa, imprisoned on Robben Island from 1964 to 1990 for being involved with the ANC, fighting for freedom and peace and later becoming the president of South Africa.
    FACT CHECK: During his time in prison, he was able to have secret talks with F. W. de Klerk. Due to these talks, he was able to be freed.
    CONNECTION: People fight, whether physically or emotionally, for things that they believe in.
    RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ [This movie was interesting.]
