A forced march ordered By Andrew Jackson in which thousands of Indians died while being relocated. This was important because it heightened already serious tension between the US and the Natives but it gave the United States more land. -

This allowed for former slaves to be relocated and given food and other things. This was important because it allowed southern freed slaves to assimilate and be productive in the US.
