    John Lennon was an English musician who gained worldwide fame as one of the founders of The Beatle, for his subsequent solo career, and for his political activism and pacifism. He was shot by Mark David Chapman at the entrance of the building where he lived, The Dakota, in New York City on 8 December 1980.

    Fashion of the 80's
    The clothes worn in the 80's depicted people who were trying to find themselves. They looked for a way to express their creativity and individuality. Men wore heavy makeup and grew long hair. Women wore short hair and layers of clothing. Popular clothing were leg warmers, neon, acid washed jeans, the mullet, jelly shoes, oversized shirts, and swatch sunglasses.

    AIDS is detected in California and New York. The first cases are among gay men, then injecting drug users. This caused fear aroung the U.S. because they weren't sure if it was contagious. Many people died from the diseases they caught from AIDS.

    The technique was first used in the late 1980's to convict a Portland, Oregon, man of raping and impregnating his 13 year old daughter. Tissue samples were taken from both the man and fetus and the DNA was analyzed and he was convicted.
