    The Montgomery Bus Boycott happened in December of 1955 and was apart of the Civil rights movement. African Americans refused to ride the bus anywhere during this time and this boycott also led to the emergence of Martin Luther King Jr.

    Sputnik 1 was launched in October of 57' and was a major step in the "Space Race" for the USSR. At the time the US and USSR were involved in the "Space Race" to put the first man on the moon.
