    During the Cold war, the Soviet Union launched a satellite into space which scared the U.S citizens. When Kennedy was elected he launched his own space program which started the space race. The space race would end when America put the first man on the moon. (ignitia.com)

    The 1960s involved the end of the Cold war along with the Vietnam war. The 60s also started an exploration of space and the beginning of the first man to set foot on the moon.     When Kennedy was president he decided to tour the country. Kennedy went to Texas in an open Limo. While touring around with his wife he was shot in the back of the head by Lee Harvey Oswald.     The Iran hostage crisis was one of the worst foreign problems for the Carter administration. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini headed a revolution against Shah in February 1979.
