    Since the Japanese Empire would not surrender even when fighting a losing war, the United States demonstrated it's horrifying new weapon, the atomic bomb. On August 9th 1915 The US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, thus ending World War 2 and solidifying ourselves as a World Power.

    Tensions rose between The Soviet Union and the United States at the end of WWII. The fear of Atomic Bombs and the struggle for Capitalist and Communist control over other nations resulted in a new era of warfare that would push America to vastly increase their military strength eventually becoming the strongest nation in the world.

    Diner's Club issues first Credit Card
    In 1950, the first credit card is introduced in the US. This new form of currency would soon add a new way to exchange currency in the world. Introducing banking accounts and many more financial details we have today.

    In the summer of 1950, North Korea, now under communist control attempts to invade South Korea who is allied with the United States. The fear of losing South Korea to communism pushes the US into war with North Korea. This war was one of the several conflicts that erupted because of the Cold War. Thus shaping Korea and the situation of it as we see it today.

    This decades long fight led by Martin Luther King was a major political and social change in America involving the rights of African American citizens. The result of this was the social equality of all people in the United States and the end of segregation. This shaped how we see social standards today and racial views.

    US sends troops into Vietnam
    Vietnam, now under threat of Communist overthrow, now begins a war within itself, getting the United States involved by sending troops into the jungles to engage in gorilla warfare with the Vietkong. This war was widely protested because to the citizens it seemed like a pointless conflict, thus causing controversy and questioning of the government's decisions. This war lasted until 1975 and is widely remembered today as a controversial point in history.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis
    In 1962 it was discovered that the Soviet Union was sending nuclear missiles to Cuba. This started a 13 day confrontation in which both the US and the USSR were very close to launching nuclear missiles at each other. This proved that nuclear weapons were extremely dangerous weapons that cannot be given into the hands of a fool. Today we have had similar threats, as the thought of annihilation is still in peoples minds.

    The US withdraws from Vietnam
    In 1975 the United States finally decides to pull out of vietnam after a 17 year long skirmish. This showed extreme public dissatisfaction and persecution of some veterans from the war. This event remained a point in history filled with controversy, shaping America into a political war issue that still remains in some cases today with the middle east.
