  • Manhattan Project

    The Manhattan Project was a research project that took place during WWII and produced the first nuclear weapons, the United States led the project. On December 2, 1942, the first nuclear chain reaction was produced.
  • D-Day: The Invasion of Normandy

    The Allied forces (Britain, America, Canada, and France) attacked the German forces on the coast of Normandy, France. The Allied forces had over 150,000 soldiers and were victorious, this day was a major turning point for WWII in Europe
  • Death of President Roosevelt

    Thirty-Second President and member of the Democratic Party, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, passed away as a result of health complications. He served the United States as president for four terms through the Great Depression and a large portion of WWII.
  • World War II Ends

    On September 2, 1945, WWII ended after U.S. General MacArthur accepted Japan's formal surrender on the U.S. battleship Missouri which was anchored in Tokyo Bay. by the end of the war both Germany and Japan surrender to the United States and the Allied Powers.
  • National Security Act of 1947

    President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act into law on July 26, 1947, which created the Department of Defense, Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Council, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

    NATO or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was an alliance formed between the United States, Canada, and a number of European nations. The treaty decided that any attack on one of the countries would be treated as an attack on all of them.
