Unlike in the 1920s, clothes were made to compliment a woman's figure. For example belts, butterfly sleeves, and puffed shoulders were added to exagerate their waists and make them appear slimmer. Back then, the bottoms were mostly skirts and went past the knee. Skirts were worn at the natural waistline. Skirts had a high-low hemline and pleats, to add motion and volume. Shirts in the 30's were made, just like dresses, to compliment a womans body.
