  • Tulsa Race Massacre

    Armed white citizens of Oklahoma attacked black citizens of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is believed to be one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history. This massacre also destroyed what was known as the "Black Wall Street".
  • Investigation into Teapot Dome Scandal

    Wyoming senator John Kendrick introduced a resolution to investigate a bribery scandal between members of President Harding's administration and members of the oil industry. This scandal would forever tarnish Harding's administration.
  • Scopes Trial

    Commonly referred to as the Monkey Trial, this trail revolved around the teaching of evolution in public classrooms and found that it was not unconstitutional. This trial was highly publicized throughout the country and hurt the image of Biblical Christianity in America.
  • First trans-Atlantic flight

    Charles Lindbergh made the first solo, nonstop, flight across the Atlantic Ocean. This flight began in New York and ended in Paris, France.
  • Stock Market Crash

    The stock market crashed heavily on this date. This was marked by the Dow Jones declining nearly 13 percent. This was a notable event showing the beginning of the Great Depression.
  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt Wins Election

    FDR was elected as the 32nd president. He would go on to serve a total of 4 terms, and do many notable things during his presidency.
  • 21st Amendment

    The ratification of this Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment which was a prohibition on liquor.
  • Hitler Invades Poland

    Germany invaded Poland on this date. This marked the beginning of WWII. Two days after, Britain and France declared war on Germany.
  • Bombing of Pearl Harbor

    Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in a surprise attack attempting to cripple American forces. This led to the United States declaring war on Japan and later Germany as well. This marked the entrance of the U.S. into the second World War.
