  • Coolidge Defeats Davis

    Republican Calvin Coolidge defeated Democrat John W. Davis winning with 324 electoral votes.
  • The Iron Lung Was Invented

    Philip Drinker and Lewis Agassiz Shaw created a tool that would change medicine forever. In 1927, they had invented a machine that helped push air in and out of the lungs. Many people survived sicknesses or injuries that previously would have killed them.
  • Lindbergh Crosess The Atlantic

    Lindbergh took off in his plane from Roosevelt Field in 1927 and completed the first transcontinental flight. After a 33 1/2 hour flight, he landed in Paris France.

    On July 7th, 1937, shots were exchanged just outside of Peking. Fighting broke out, and a couple of weeks later Japan took over Peking.

    Roosevelt wins for the 3rd time which made him the first president to serve 3 terms.
  • Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor

    Just before 8:00 am in Honolulu Hawaii, at the U.S. Naval base in Pearl Harbor disaster struck. The Japanese attacked the harbor without warning, killing 2,471 people and sinking or damaging over 20 navy ships. This event was the main reason the United States joined World War 2.
