    On August 18, 1920, The 19th amendment was added to the Constitution. This amendment allowed women the right to vote. This was a major topic after women had fought for nearly 70 years to earn their right to vote.
  • Harding wins presidency

    Harding wins presidency
    On November 2nd, 1920, Warren Harding won presidency. Harding defeated Democrat James Cox. Harding won 60% of the popular vote and 75% of electoral votes making it a landslide win.
  • Sacco-Vanzetti trial

    Sacco-Vanzetti trial
    On July 14, 1921, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti are convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Th murderers were described as two Italian males. After Sacco and Vanzetti went to a garage to claim their car, they were both charged with the murder. On August 23, 1927, both men were executed even after not enough evidence was connected to the murder.

    On September 21, 1922, Congress passed the Fordney- McCumber Tariff that was raised the tariffs extremely high. The tariff helped boost the 1920s. However due to this, countries who were experiencing economic struggle, such as Germany, worsened and people such as Adolf Hitler gained recognition quite easily.

    On September 30, 1927, Babe Ruth, star of New York Yankees, hits his 60th homer of the season. The previous record of 59 held by Babe Ruth, is broken by himself. This record of 60 will be held for another 30 years.
