    Women gained the right to vote
    After years of fighting for woman's suffrage women had gained the right to vote in all states. Thanks to the 19th amendment made in 1920 to give women the right to vote. This made women more equal to men and around this time flapper girls started popping up.
  • Harding is elected into office

    Harding is elected into office
    William Harding is voted into office in 1921 after president Wilson. He is on the republican side and will continue to be president until his death 1923. He even today is looked down upon due to shady things that had happened during his presidency.
  • Emergency quota act put into effect.

    Emergency quota act put into effect.
    The congress passed immigration restrictions that was targeted to less desirable immigrants from east and south Europe but had more allowance to immigrants from north and west Europe. There was a very clear bias towards immigrants after WW1
  • Teapot scandal begins

    Teapot scandal begins
    The secretary of interior leases the oil reserves meant for the military to mammoth oil. The secretary did this with out Harding's knowledge for his own personal gain. Eventually an opposing oil company had found out and exposed the scandal to the public.
  • Calvin Coolidge becomes president

    Calvin Coolidge becomes president
    After Harding died of a heart attack in San Francisco Calvin Coolidge and as the vice president took his place. Calvin was strongly conservative and supported tax cuts.
  • First Macy's Thanksgiving parade

    First Macy's Thanksgiving parade
    The parade that's now seen as a tradition began in 1924 and the first balloon in the parade was Felix the cat in 1927. It was broadcasted on radio and even then had the icon Santa float at the end. It was being set up for about a week before it had actually began.

    KKK members marched around Washington wearing their ghost like outfits. 30,000 members flooded Pennsylvania avenue with their hateful beliefs. Entire hotels and restaurants were filled with the white hooded men.

    The jazz singer the first film with sound made its premier changing film as we know it. It was based on the play of the same name that was made in 1925. And due to the times featured white actors in black face.
  • Mickey mouse makes first appearance

    The now famous mickey mouse makes his first appearance and it even had sound! It wasn't the first animation made of him but it was the first released. It also was the premier of Minnie mouse and an early version of Pete.
  • Stock market crash

    The stock market that pushed America into the great depression era for years began in 1929. Almost of our banks had failed and later shut down. Unemployment had risen about 30 percent thanks to this event.
