  • Influenza Death Toll

    The 1918 Influenza pandemic was the most severe pandemic in history. It was cause by H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin. The disease began to spread world wide, first discovered in the United States. It estimated that about 500 million, or one- third of the world's population had caught the sickness. Around 50 million people died from it.
  • Immigration Act of 1924

    The Immigration Act was authorized by the Representative Albert Johnson of Washington. The bill was passed, ending further immigration with Japan, and limiting the number of immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe allowed to enter the United States through a national origin quota. It allowed no more than 150,000 total immigrants who feel within the boundaries of the quota system to enter the United States.
  • The Flight of Charles Lindbergh

    Charles Lindbergh was the first solo man to complete a flying journey across the Altaic ocean without landing. he flew the "great circle route" in his Spirit of St. Louis from Long Island, New York to Paris, France.

America lost billions of dollars, also leading to investors leaving the market. The American Industrialized world spiraled into Great Depression, the deepest and longest- lasting economic decrease in the world.

    Roosevelt was elected the 32nd President of the United States. He was the only President who was elected the the office four times. He led the office through two of the greatest crises in the 20th century, The Great Depression and World War II.
  • The end of Prohibition

    By the 1930s, Prohibition. had become a public policy failure. The Constitution did little to limit the sale, production, and consumption of intoxicating liquors. The 21st Amendment to the Constitution was passed and ratified, ending the national Prohibition.
  • World War II begins

    In 1939, The German dictator Adolf Hitler had become determined to invade and occupy Poland. Great Britain and France responded by declaring war on Germany. Major reasons the war began was due to the following: worldwide economic depression, failure of peace efforts, and the rise of dictatorships.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor is a U.S naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii. The Japanese forces attacked, hundreds of planes descended on the base destroying nearly 20 American naval vessels. This attack wounded and killed thousands of Americans. After this devastation, Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.
