The 19th Amendment is ratified, giving women the right to vote all across the country. Now, the right to vote could not be denied by gender. At the time, Susan B. Anthony very much contributed to the campaign of this amendment. This is why it is sometimes referred to as the Susan B. Anthony amendment.

Warren G. Harding becomes president of the Unites States. He gained 16 million popular votes and won the electoral votes 404-127. This election was the first that women could vote in.

Congress passes the Emergency Quota Act. This act limited the number of European immigrants that could enter the United States. However, this act reduced the quota for migrants in Northern and Western Europe.

The Sacco-Vanzetti trial begins. The trial included Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti when convicted of murder. The case did not have enough evidence to prove the suspects guilty or not guilty, however; after a 7 week trial, they were ruled guilty. They were executed on August 23, 1921.

The U.S. Secretary of Interior, Albert Fall, begins leasing oil from
Teapot oil reserves in Wyoming. The oil he was leasing was to be preserved for the Navy. Albert Fall was leasing the oil in secret. -
After Harding returns from Alaska, he becomes sick. Unfortunately, his sickness leads to a stroke which leads to death. Calvin Coolidge, Harding's successor, takes office. Coolidge knew that Harding's presidency was full of corruption. Knowing this, he fired bad officials and hired new and reliable ones.

Calvin Coolidge winshis first presidency. Coolidge won by an electoral vote of 382-136-13. Once Coolidge is elected, he continues making the government clean and reliable.

John Scopes is arrested for teaching evolution to his students. Teaching evolution violated the law that banned teaching about Charles Darwin or his theories. The case was a large debate revolving around fundamentalism. Eventually, John Scopes was found guilty.

Babe Ruth, a Yankee's baseball player, hits his 60th homerun of the season. This was a record breaker, however; it was his own record breaker. Babe Ruth broke his own record of 59 homeruns in a season by hitting 60. His record remains for more than three decades.

Herbert Hoover wins the presidential election by an electoral vote of 444-87. Hoover ensured the people that he could get them out of the great depression. Hoover's convincing slogan throughout his campaign was "a chicken in every pot, a car in every garage."

The teapot dome scandal ends when Albert B. Fall is convicted of his crime. He was proven guilty to have accepted a bribe of $100,000 for leasing oil to an oil company. His punishment was a $100,000 fine and one year in jail.

Stock prices drop extremely low. Ultimately, the stock prices falling meant for extreme loss in buisnesses over the next several years. This was the beginning of the worst economic depression in history. Nearly $50 billion were lost.
