    The Great Migration
    The life of African Americans were becoming better since WWI many new jobs have been open. Many mining, meatpacking, steel and auto companies needed plenty of workers. Many blacks took there oppurtunities for granted and migrated West. This was imporant because it changed many people's lives. This occured from 1910 to 1930.
  • Nineteenth Amendment Created

    Nineteenth Amendment Created
    Congress passed the 19th amendment onJune 4, 1919, and ammended on August 18, 1920. The 19th amendment assures all American women the right to vote. This was a signifacent event in the 1920s because women were more free and started to feel more equal. They started to feel more equal; also they started to cut their hair and have shorter clothes.

    Flappers were young women during the 1920s that wore their dresses and hair short. Also, their attitudes were very different then the ideal woman a generation before. They smoked, drank, danced, and voted. Flappers are very important because they basically made "Roaring Twenties" happen; they changed the whole women life style.
  • Ku Klux Klan

    The KKK group started post civil war. The frist Klan was between 1865 and 1870, the second Klan was between 1915 and 1944, and the thrid Klan has been since 1946.In the 1920’s they were known to committing multiple cruel crimes against anyone who was considered “unamerican”. Non americans are Jews, African Americans, Immigrants, and Catholics. In the 20s the group consisted of over 2 million people. This showed that people were against anyone that aren’t perfect white Americans.

    After the American Revolution started, everybody began to drink "giggle water", and the sell of alcohol was getting higher and higher. Many groups started to join the new temperance movement which attempted to get everyone from getting drunk. This happened between 1920 ad 1933.The temperance movement blamed everything on alcohol; such as deaths, and any type of crime. This was important because it was what inspired the 18th amendment and stopped the production of alcohol.

    18th Amendment, Prohibition of Alcohol
    The 18th Amendment to the Constitution banned the making, saling, and transportation of giggle water, known today as alcohol. Over the 200 years of the Constitution, this is the only amendment that has been repealed. It was repealed in 1933 by the 21st amendment. This was a big change to the time period because even though they still had alcohol, it wasn't illegal anymore so they weren't commiting a crime anymore.
  • Sacco & Vanzetti Case

    Sacco & Vanzetti Case
    Two immigrants from Italy were found guilty to commiting a murder and robbery. These immagrnts were named Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti. This was a time of xenophobia, a fear of foreigners. There was no evidence of them commiting these crimes; people just believed that since they were foreigners they did it. They were excuted in 1927. I believe this is important because it shows how "racist" and how much people are against people who don't look the same as them.

    First Affordable Car Invented
    The frist car actually came out in 1896 by Henry Ford. But unfortunatey it was very expensive and costed too much for lots of people. The Ford Motor Company made the Model T. Ford which was the frist affordable car. He made more than a million care at a rate of one per minute using an assembly line. They each costed $335. This was significant event because many more people had cars and it changed the way of transportation.
  • Sears opens department stores

    Sears opens department stores
    Sears, Roebuck & Company was founded by Richard Warren Sears and Alvah Curtis Roebuck in 1893. A first it was a mail order catalog but then Julius Rosenwalk took charge 2 years later and Sears started getting more sales. In 1925 sears started opening department stores. This changed the time period because people started going shopping at the local stores instead of ordering everything by mail.
  • Scopes Trial

    Scopes Trial
    John Scopes was a high school teacher was sent to trial for teaching the children evolution instead of the religion in the bible. He was a modernist and wanted to teach evolution instead of listening to the law and teaching the children from the bible. Jury found him guilty in 10 minutes and was fined $100. This was significant because it showed how much laws didn't really matter to anyone and everybody was wild enough to go against everything.
  • Frist Movie with Sound

    Frist Movie with Sound
    The first feature-length film with sound. This was the first movie with dialogue. The movie is called "The Jazz Singer", directed by Gordon Hollingshead and Alan Crosland. This was important becase it is very big in technology, this changed all of the movies in the future.
  • New Deal

    New Deal
    Franklin D. Roosevelt believed in a certain way to end the great depression and this was known as the New Deal.
    The New Deal made an impact on america. There were three goals of legislation such as immediate relief for the poor, economic recovery, and reform. There were relief programs that created over 8 million jobs and the social security act. This was important because it was the beginning of Americas recovery. This occured during 1933 until 1936.
