1st Winter Olympics Held
The first winter olympics was also known as "Winter Sports Week". In 1928 the International Olympic Committee finally entitled the Winter Games. During 1908, figure skating made its way into the Olympics, but it was wasn't held until October. Ice hockey joined as an official olympic event in 1920.
