  • Great Migration

    The Great Migration was when 6 million African Americans migrated from the southern states to the northern states. It stared in 1916.
  • Bolshevik Revolution

    Leftist revolutionaries led by Bolshevik Party leader Vladimir Lenin overthrew the Provisional Government on November 6th and 7th, 1917.
  • 18th Amendment

    The 18th Amendment was the prohibition of alcohol and was ratified on January 16, 1919,
  • Volstead Act

    The Volstead Act, also known as the National Prohibition Act, was helped carry out the intent of the 18th amendment. It was established on October 28, 1919.
  • 19th Amendment

    The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote, it was ratified on August 18, 1920 after years of protesting.
  • The Cotton Club opens.

    The Cotton Club was operated by a New York gangster Owney Madden who used the club to sell his “#1 Beer”. It opened in 1923.
  • Scopes Trial

    In 1925 a science teacher John Scopes was prosecuted for teaching evolution to his class, which was recently made illegal.
  • Charles Lindbergh crosses the Atlantic

    Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo transatlantic flight on May 21, 1927.
  • Herbet Hoover elected president

    He was elected after Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1928 election. He got inaugurated on March 4, 1929 and ended his term on March 4, 1933.
  • Steamboat Willie was created

    Steamboat Willie was an animated short film released on November 18, 1928.
