18th Amendment
The 18th amendment was the prohabition of alcohol. This was for medical and religious reasons. -
Lenin and the Communist state/ Red Scare
On January 21st of 1919 workers for shipyards went on strike. This sparked the fire of the Red Scare. This was also because of extreme nationalism after WWI. Lenin wanted to spread communism into Europe. -
Volstead Act
This act enabled legislation for the 18th amendment. The probition of alcohol wasn't necessarily good because the people who made and distribuated the alcohol lost their jobs. -
Palmer Raids
The Palmer Raids were attempts by the United States Department of Justice to arrest and deport anarchists. More than 500 people were deported. This went on from Nov. of 1919 to Jan. of 1920. -
Sacco & Vanzetti Trial
The two men murdered two other men during a armed robbery. They both ended up being guily and executed by an electric chair. -
19th amendment ratified
The 19th amendment allowed women to vote. Women fought for this right for a very long time and went through tortuous acts to do so. -
Teapot Dome Affair
A bribe in America. The scandal further ruined to reputation of the Harding Administration. Albert Fall was found guilty of bribery and had to pay a huge fine. -
National Origins Act
This law restricted immigration. It established a systems of national quotas. This lasted unitl the 1960's. -
Scopes Trial
A teacher disagreed with the disallowment of teaching evolution at school. Tennesse vs. John Scopes. Also known as the Scopes "monkey" trial. -
Charles Lindbergh Crosses The Atlantic
Charles Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic ocean flying Lucky Lindy. He went from Long Island to France, First person ever to sucessfully do this. -

This was the first movie ever made to have voices in the movie. It premiered at Warner Bros.' flagship theater in New York City. -
Steamboat Willie
This was the first animated movie ever, It was about Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse. Disney was paid $500, which was a lot back then. -
Herbert Hoover Elected
31st president of the United States. He was a republican. He was re-elected and was a president for a total of 8 years. -
Stock Market crash
The crash in the stock market was a devestation to the economy and led to the great depression. Before the crash, the stock market was booming and a great investment.
