    The Mexican Revolution started on November 20th, 1910. it started when Francisco I. Madero overthrew Portfirio Diaz. Diaz was president in 1876 & during that time no president was to serve to terms in a row. So, Diaz left office while Manuel Gonzalez took over for a term. After Gonzalez had left Diaz was re-elected and got rid of the law that no one could serve to terms in a row. Diaz was ruled a dictator. Diaz used many scare-tactics to influence the voters.   • World War 1 Begins

    World War 1 was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (Serbian Assassins). After the murder, Austria declared war on Serbia. Before the assassination however, relations between the countries in Europe were shaky. After Austria declared war on Serbia, Germany declared war on Russia and France, invading Belgium.   • Russian Revolution

    In 1917 women left their jobs in factories to protest on International Women's Day and the women were ready to be heard. They were working in horrible conditions a lot while the men in their lives were off fighting in World War I. The next day the remaining men joined the women in protesting. No one was working so the factories were not able to produce things.

  • Spanish Flu Epidemic

    Also known as the Black Death or Bubonic Plague,Also known as Black Death or the Bubonic Plague, it was spread all across the globe; through air carriers, trade routes, and shipping lines. It killed between 20 and 40 million people. It struck old people and young children, but also ages in between. Doctors didn't know how to treat it. There was also a war going on. Half the soldiers fighting in Europe became infected with the deadly virus. The disease was so severe that the average human lifespan in the U.S was lowered by 10 years.
  • Russian Czar Nicholas II and His Family Are Killed

    The Czar Nicholas Romanov II ruled Russia incorrectly, or so the Bolsheviks and their followers believed. In order to gain leadership, Russians plotted the Czar and his family's death. On July 17th, 1918, the family of Czar Nicholas was shot and killed. This was done to protect the Soviet government and all of Russia from World War 1. The Soviet goverment ruled Russia until 1991.

On November 11, 1918, Germany signed armistice with the Allies and World War 1 was officially ended. During the War, suspicions about people from different countries grew, especially in the US when the USA wasn't fighting any wars. These misgivings about Europeans caused immigration figures to drop very low. Around the world people were living in fear.

By November 16, 1923, one US dollar was equal to 4,200,000,000 German Marks!

    The Great Depression was a worldwide economic depression that begun in 1929, and lasted for about 10 years. Everyone in the world who invested in the Stock Market, was in a bad economical situation. On "Black Tuesday," October 29, 1929, the Stock Market crashed. This meant that all the people who put money into the Stock Market, lost most or all of their money they invested.

  • First Nazi Concentration Camp Created

    The first concentration camps in Germany were established soon after Hitler's appointment as chancellor in January 1933. The camp was called Dachau. The Dachau concentration camp was the first regular concentration camp established by the Nazi's.
  • Germany Issues the Anti-Jewish Nuremberg Laws

    People in the Nazi declared laws to segregate Jews from society and take them from their rights. One law they created was to keep any Jews from having sexual relations with Germans or Nazi's. many of the laws deprived them of political rights.

    The Spanish Civil War was caused by many things. Rebellion, the Great Depression, new leaders, unemployment, and a dictatorial goverment. The government (Republicans) attacked those who seemed to have too many priveledges in society. The government had an army, so when people (Nationalists) tried to overthrow them, they were unsuccessful. The people of Spain felt unstable, and there were many attempts to stop the government. Many people died.The war ended in 1939.

  • Hitler Annexes Austria

    Germany tries yet again to get the Austrian government to join them in their hate for Jews. Austrian leader met with Hitler to get them to join and Hitler was named as a part of several Austrian's Nazis. There was a national vote to get rid of annexation but before this could happen, Austrian leader Kurt von Schuschnigg, had and too much pressure from Hitler and resigned. Austria was a part of the Nazi community until the end of World War II.

    World War II was caused by Adolf Hitler (leader of Germany) deciding he wanted complete power over Europe. He also disliked Jews, and began capturing them and putting them in camps. He tortured them and killed most of them. Hitler formed an army (called the Nazis) and began invading countries. Throughout the war, Hitler invaded Poland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and the Soviet Union. Italy and Germany became allies, and late, Japan joined them.
  • Major Earthquake in Chile

    On January 24, 1939, an 8.3 magnitude earthquake, in south central Chile, left 50,000 people dead and 60,000 injured. Most of the people that died was a result of falling buildings.

  • Japanese-Americans Held in Camps

    During World War II, over 100,000 Japanese-American individuals were rounded up and shipped to internment camps. These consisted of poorly-constructed barracks surrounded by barbed wire, sentry posts and armed guards. They were put in these camps, not because they had been tried and found guilty of something, but because either they or their parents or ancestors were from Japan and, as such, they were deemed a "threat" to national security.

    President Franklin Roosevelt approves the Chinese Repeal Act and the Chinese are finally allowed to become American citizens.

    Hitler commits suicide on May 8th, 1945. After this, the war comes to a slow stop. The terrible tyrant that started the war was dead, so what was the point of fighting? The war between the U.S. and Japan continued however, but ended a few months later.

Once people heard that the terrible tyrant was dead, people didn't think there was a need to fight anymore, because the one who had started the war was gone.

    The atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. There were 90,000 buildings in Hiroshima before, but after, there was only 28,000 left standing. 346,000- 356,000 people were killed in total were killed during and after the war, due to radiation causing cancer, injuries, and the terrible heat.

    Only a few days after the Hiroshima bombing, the U.S. struck again. This bomb was made out of uranium, unlike the other that was made of plutonium. 20,000 were killed, but 50,000 were injured. The impact was terrible. The bomb burned skin and crushed huge buildings. It was made of radiaton that later caused cancer for many of the citizens. Even people who weren't there for the bomb got cancer; if a parent had radiation in their bodies. Japan surrendered a few days later.
