    Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
    The Triangle Shirtwaist fire was a horrible fire that consumed the lives of 146 workers. The company, a sweatshop company, had locked the workers in so when the fire started there was no escape. This was important because it led to the people being aware of working conditions and fighting to improve them. And it changed the culture of America by showing the horrors of sweatshops to the point that people didn't want to buy from sweatshops.

    The 1912 election was a super charged one. The three main contestants were Wilson, Roosevelt, and Taft. Wilson pulled out a clear win, winning most of the U.S. This election featured Roosevelt and Taft fighting each other politically over tensions between them.

    The Treaty of Versailles was the treaty that ended WW1. It officially ended hostilities between the Allies and Germany. This treaty was important becasue it mad Germany weak, which led to Hitler taking it over unded a dictatorship later.

He was an author who was part of the lost generation, people who felt like they were on the outside of civalization looking in at the rest of us. They also felt that civ. had lost it's nobility. The GG is based on the life of the wealthy Jay Gatsby and Tom and Daisy Buchannan, and is nararated by Nick Carraway. It is an exaple of how people were about money and not life, and changed the culture of americans through exposing.

    The Scopes Trial was one of the most important trials in history. John Scopes was prosecuted because he teached the theory of evolution. This was important because it led to change in the school district.

    The 15 millionth Model T was a landmark in the history of cars. The Ford model t was the first car ever mass produces, when Ford finished streamlining it took 93 minutes to build a car. This showed how far the car industry had gone and the techniques used to build them were landmark as well.

    Black Tuesday was a catastophic loss of 14 billion dollars in the stock market. It was caused by people buying on margin and speculating. Once the day started people kept on selling their stock and driving the prices down more. This was the metaphorical start to the Great Depression.

    Amelia Earhart's crossing of the Atlantic was a huge thing for women. It showed that women could do whatever men did, and were not inferior. It changed culture by changing views on women and their abilities and was used in the fight for women rights.

    Black Sunday was one of the worst dust storms ever, literally changing day to night for many on the Great Plains. The Dust Bowl was an economic thing because farmers couldn't make the crops to sell, and this was during the Great Depression, so those farmers were foreclosed upon.

    Pearl Harbor was the attack that brought America into WWII. It was a sneak attack on the naval base in hawaii. Japan sunk most of the US fleet. It was intended to keep us out of the war but it had the exact opposite effect.

    The Battle of Stalingrad was the turning point in the war in Russia. This was where the Germans were finally stopped and were started to be forced out of Russia. At one point the Germans occupied 5/6 of the city.

    The election of 1944 was not as big of an election as the 1912 election. The ttwomain competitors were F.D.R. and Thomas Dewey. F.D.R. won by a huge margin in the electoral vote, but by not that big of a margin in the popular election. After his death he was succeded by Harry truman, who made the decision to drop an A-Bomb on Hiroshima and then Nagisaki.

    The Battle of the Bulge was a major turning point in the war. It was the last major counteroffensive by the German army. It was called the Battle of the Bulge because during the battle the allied army bulged out but never broke. During the battle the German army lost most of its remaining heavy armor and supplies.

    The atomic bombing of Hiroshima was one of the most oimportant events in modern history. First of all, it saved the lives of countless allied soldiers. It also did something else. It launched the world int the atomic age, which has led to things used like nuclear power, and many other things.

It started when communist north Korea invaded free South Korea, and it lasted three years with the end result being both countries basically where they were. It showed that America was willing to fight to prevent the spread of communism.

    The Vietnam War was another war that was against communism. It was South Vietnam and its allies versus north vietnam and its allies. It resulted in america evacuating as north vietnamese troops overran saigon. This was a victory for the communist forces and the vietnams were united.

    This event was when Rosa Parks refused to give up her place in the front of the bus up for a white man. She was arrested and thrown in prison. She later led a boycott of th emongomery bus system and is nicknamed the mother of the civil rights movement.
