  • Theodore Roosevelt is elected President

    Theodore Roosevelt became the 26th President of the United States, after the assassination of President William McKinley. His term lasted through March 4, 1909.
  • The Wright brothers make their first flight

    Wilbur and Orville Wright invented the Flyer, which was first crewed, powered, and a controlled flight aircraft. The Wright brothers first airplane flight lasted around 12 seconds in their Kitty Hawk Flyer. Their final flight of the day reached 852 ft in 59 seconds. They had unlocked the mystery of powered flight, becoming the first true airplane pilots. This discovery brought so many new advanced ideas to people all around the world.
  • World War I begins

    The World War 1 began after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.
  • The Sinking of the Lusitania

    The Lusitania was an ocean liner, representing the United States going into World War 1. The ship was sunk by a German torpedo, U- boat submarine off the Irish coast. The ship was carrying about 173 tons of war munitions for Britain, giving Germany more reasons to attack them.The Lusitania was known for being the fastest, most luxurious ship to ever sail the seas.
  • The United States enters World War I

    Two days after the U. S Senate voted 82 to 6 to declare war against Germany, The House of Representatives endorsed the declaration by a vote of 373 to 50. Germany sank many American merchant ships around the British Isles, leading them to enter the war against Germany. This promoted them to entering World War I
  • The 18th Amendment (Prohibition)

    The 18th Ammendment prohibited the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors, it did not out law the actual consumption of alcohol. Prohibition advocates attempted to show people that eliminating alcohol from society would eliminate poverty and social vices, such as physical violence. But after the amendment was ratified, Congress passed the Volstead Act top provide for the federal enforcement of Prohibition.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles was signed at the Palace of versailles in Paris at the end of World War I. It represented peaceful terms between the victorious Allies and Germany. The Treaty held Germany responsible for starting the war and imposed harsh penalties due to their lost territory, massive reparations, and payments.
  • The 19th Amendment ( Women's sufferage)

    The 19th amendment granted American women the right to vote to the U.S Constitution. This argued that women deserved the vote because they were patriots, caregivers, and mothers. The women role in the home and family would succeed to improve the politics and the economy.
