    The Wright brothers observed birds and the way they flew and decided they wanted to fly just the same. They believed they could use the technique of warping and changing the wings to sustain flight. On December 17th Wilbur and Orville successfully flew a glider, later leading to the invention of the modern-day airplane.

    Four days into the voyage unable to steer clear of an iceberg quick enough the Titanic took a blow to the side. The boat didn't carry half as many lifeboats needed, so as a result, 3,000 people died as the Titanic sunk. When the public got wind of the titanic it caused public outrage.

    World War 1 was largely triggered by the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. 135 countries took part in the war, and over 15 million people died. The U.S. was in the war in actual combat for only seven and a half months during which time 116,000 were killed and 204,000 were wounded.

    WWI claimed 9-13 million lives and caused unprecedented conflict. Germany finally surrendered on November 18, 1918, and all nations called peace for negotiating. Later after some negotiating Germany & Allied Nations signed a Treaty of Versailles, ending the war.
