  • Marie-Anne Collot

    Marie-Anne Collot
Marie-Anne Collot was a French sculptor. She was the student and daughter-in-law of Etienne Falconet and is most well known as a portraitist, close to the philosophic and artistic circles of Diderot and Catherine the Great. The reason I picked this artwork is because I really love sculptors, I love the dark contrast and the different shadowy tones of grey. I reminds me of Medusa but then I realized its the style of the hair with the coiled tight curls.

    Flowers, Still Life
This painting is of flowers that are a representation of still life. Created by Mary Moser, this painting was an oil on canvas. This painting is very dark in the background and light around the flowers, the white is the contrast between the dark and it really makes the flowers blossom and bloom which is why I picked this picture. Mary Moser was an English painter whom was one of only two female founding members of the Royal Academy in 1768.
