    Ezequiel Zamra was a great hero of Venezuela, and lead troops to many victories. He also lead a great uprising that lead to a civil war. Sadly, he was a victim of terrorism.

    Source The massacure occures on February 26, 1860. Between 80-250 Wiyot indians were killed. The Wiyot indians were a very peaceful tribe that did nthing to cause the British to attack.

    On March 4, 1865, in the Ford Theater, the current president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, was assassinated. The man who committed this was named John Wilkes Booth. Booth fancied himself a southerner and blamed Lincoln for all the misfortune the South had faced. And so, with his cohorts, he plotted to kill the Secretary of State, the Vice President, and Lincoln. All attempts except for the one on Lincoln failed. This happened after the war had ended, but the feelings of hate still linge

    One March 30,1867 the U.s bought Alaska from Russia for 7.2 million dollors. At the time many people thought that this was a crazy agreement. Te secretary of state Willim H. Seward dissagreed, on fact Alaska encreased the size of the U.S. by almost 20%.

Most of the work was done by male Chinese Immigrants. when the railroad was completed a pictre was taken, the picture did not include the Chinese workers. Also, Irish and american workers contibuted They laid down over 1,700 miles of track. The railroad was called one of the largest American Cival projects of that time period.

  • British Steamship RMS Atlantic sinks off Nova Scotia

    The RMS Atlantic departed from Liverpool on March 20th, 1873. It decided to make an unexpected stop at Halifaz in Nova Scotia for coal. A storm arose the night of March 31st, and the ship struck an underwater rock. Around 530 people died when the boat flipped over.

    The Siege of Plavna also called the Seige of Pleven. In the Russo-Turkish war the Russian of the Turkish held the town of Pleven (in Bulgaria). 4 battles were fought there, 3 were repluses of attacks by Russians. The 4th was was caused by the Turkish trying to escape.

Befre he finished he had triend no less that 6,000 different materials. He then triend cotten thread filment and it becan to glow. ABout 14 hours later light burned out.

    Tsar Alexander II, of Russia was assassined on March 1, 1881. He was traveling through snow to ST. Petersberg. He was surrounded bt 7 cossaks that were armed on this trip. This was the day Tsar had signed the 1st constitution to the Russian people. On this day Tsar was being watched. He was killed by a bomber that took his life in the blast.

    The treaty of Ganghwa was when Japan used gunboat diplomacy to force South Korea to sign an unequal treaty that ended the Qing dynasty and opened up three ports to Japanese trade. It happened after a Japanese warship came towards the island, and after stating they were searching for drinkable water, The Koreans opened fire. The Japanese fired back, silencing them, then went to attack another fort. The warship was called Un'yō, and it's captain was Inoue Yoshika.

    On March 27, 1890 Louisvile, Kentucky was hit by tornado.This was one of the most violent and most destructive storms in history. The storm hit Louisville around 8:30p. and it lasted about 5 minutes. It was able to distroy most of the downtown area within the short period of time.

    On April 21, 1894 about 125,000 minners went on strike. After the strike they wr grated higher wages and were gaurded by sheriffs. They began to strike som emore. Most of teh strkess were peaceful. One day a group of women were marching to the coke oven when a mine official becan to shoot. Several were shot. When striker were shot they then got arressted.

    Angel Island, an immigration station sometimes referred to as "The Ellis Island of the West" opens up off of the coast of San Francisco. Over the course of three decades, 175,000 Asian immigrants passed through Angel Island.
