  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Forbade settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. This also ordered anyone currently living in the area to "remove themselves" from it. It was difficult to keep up. The colonists just ignored it which showed how unhappy the colonists were towards the England.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Set taxes on molasses and sugar imported by colonists. Was made to pay for soldiers to protect colonists from american indian attacks
  • The TownShend Acts

    The TownShend Acts
    Placed taxes upon imported glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. This was created to pay for military costs the salries of colonial governers. The colonists hated these new laws because they thought it violated their constitutional rights. Boycotts formed.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    A street fight bewteen a patriot mob and a squad of British soldiers. A few colonists were killed which created uproar in the colonies.

    The Tea Act
    Parliament repealed all of the TownShend Acts except for the tea. Tea was important to the colonists even with the boycotts. The colonists were smuggling it in. The British East India Company offered Parliament a solution to whichcheaper tea might lead to less smuggling and more money collected in taxes. The colonists worried that the British East India Company would gain complete control of the tea trade and so they united against the act.

    When colonists dressed up as indians and and dumped around 342 tea chests into the harbor in response to a ship having to pay the tea duty to leave. England started to wonder how much longer it will be til a complete meltdown.

    This consisted of many laws. First, the Boston Harbor was closed until Boston paye for the lost tea. Second, The Massachusetts charter was canceled. Third, Royal officials accused of crimes were sent to britain for trial. Fourth, colonists were forced to quarter or provide english soldiers shelter and food. and finally fifth, General Thomas Gage became the new gov. of Massachusetts. The British hoped this would restore order but simply made everyone angry.

    Was one of the earliest organized women's political actions in U.S. history. These women signed an agreement in which they attacked the Tea Act. The Tea Act made colonists boycott english goods.

    A meeting of deligates from 12 of the 13 colonies (no georgia) to form a united force against England.
  • Paul Revere

    Paul Revere
    Paul revere was a an American silversmith and participant in the american Revolution. He warned of british soldiers appraching so they could be ready.

    Was the first military battle of the Revelutionary War. Tensions had been building for years and now it is all going to come out. (this was when Paul Revere went of his nightime ride). The minutemen were mobilized and intercepted the British. the British retreated

    A list of statements created a month before the Battle at Lexington and Concord. They basically talked of cutting themselves away from England, rubbing it in a ittle, and then saying what will change.

    Things were heating up in the colonies as England and the American people were butting heads. They agreed to form the Continental Army as being civil was no longer a choice.

    The American people had hold of Bunker hill (or Breed's Hill). The British basically wanted to "knock them off the hill" because they wanted/could. The Americans mowed down the British as they had a higher advantage. This battle let the colonists realize what they can do.

    A battle bewteen the American Patriots and the British. The British were caught off gaurd as they learned of a group of Patriots approaching. They expected a small group and did not hesitate to jump right into fighting. They were easilty mowed down by the Patriots. Was the first battle in N.C.

    The Continental Congres were authorized to vote for independence. This was the first official action towards independence. This call for freedom was directed to all the colonies.

    Outlines all of the rights and beliefs of the U.S.A. such at "All men are created equal" and "All men have inherent natural rights".
  • Seige of Ticonderoga

    When a group of Americans took the English fort of Ticonderoga. The Americans won by a landslide. The supplies of Ticonderoga aided the colonists in the revolution.

    George Washington wanted to create a better army and was scouting out militias to create was is now known as the First Continental Army. They fought the cold weather and came out with an organized army.

Did not involve the any army including the Continental army but was really people like mountain men. This battle turned the tide of the war in the American's favor.

    WAS AN IMPORTANT BATTLE Even though the colonists lost, the British lost so many troops that they were set up for defeat later on.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    This was the most important battle of the Revolutionary War General George Washinton led Continental and French troops against the British General Lord Charles Cornwallis to seige Yorktown from England's grasp. The Patriot victory in Yorktown ended the fighting and in Paris on Sep.3.1783 the Treay of Paris was signed officially ending the war.

    Was sign by King George III of Great Britian (David Hartley was a stand in for the king) and represenatives of the United States (Ben Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay) of America to end the Revolutionary War. this OFFICIALLY END THE REVOLUTION. This took a while. From the end of the battle of yorktown to 1783 (a year and a half)
