    Proclamation of 1763
    This made it so the British reserved all the western territory between the Allegheny Mountains, Florida, the Mississippi River, and Quebec so the native Americans can use it, so they attempted to chase out colonists. The colonists saw this as a violation of their rights to occupy land.

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This was placed to replace the Molasses Act of 1733. This act made the importation of foreign rum outlawed, levied taxes on luxury items, and it was hoped that this act would lower smuggling. The merchants and people opposed the law, saying it was wrong to taxation without representation.

  • Currency Act

    This act was made to prevent paper bills made inside of a colony to become legal tender. This was hard on the colonists, since they didn't have a lot of hard money to begin with, and had a serious burden on the colonies.
  • Quartering Act of 1765

    Quartering Act of 1765
    This required colonies to provide royal troops with provisions and barracks, which the colonists had little of so this act had a serious effect on them and it was seen as a violation of their rights.

  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act required all newspapers, broadsides, pamphlets, licenses, leases, and other legal documents to bear revenue stamps. This act made a lot of groups hostile, and with trade falling in 1765 secret organizations against the act were created, call the "Sons of Liberty". This resistance to the taxes and stamps cause the act to be nullified.

  • Declaratory Act

    Due to the colonists wanting proper representation and arguing against the parliament the laws they made, this act was created to give parliament full control over law making for the colonies. This let the colonist have the win for a short time.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This act was to state that taxes on goods imported from the colonies was legal but internal taxes were not. This was meant to get the support of colonists for officials and the army. Though the violence was not so severe as the Stamp Act, there was still strong resistance to this act.

  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Townshend Act made colonist go against the new regulations and they made ways to avoid dealing with the regulations, but the Act still caused violence. Due to custom officials getting hurt while trying to collect duties, they were sent with two British regiments to protect them. A harmless snowballing of British soldiers turned into three Bostonians being killed.

  • Boston tea Party

    Boston tea Party
    This happened due to the British government let a East India company have monopoly on all tea exported to the colonies. The East India was threatening to eliminate independent merchants. In ports up and down the Atlantic coast they decided to not take the tea, but Boston decided to act against the tea trade and dump out their tea cargo in the Boston Harbor, so that colonists wouldn't pay the tax for tea.

  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    This act extended the boundaries of the province of Quebec south to the Ohio River. This act disregarded old charter rules, and by doing so it threatened to block colony expansion and this outraged colonists.

  • Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)

    Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)
    This act was made as a punishment on the colonists for the Boston Tea Party incident to maintain control over the colonies. This made it so the port of Boston was closed till the lost tea was repaid. This made it so Boston itself would go through a crisis of not having sea access.

  • Quartering Act of 1774

    This act made it so required local authorities to find suitable quarters for British troops, in private homes if necessary. This made Massachusetts rally to get aid from its sister countries instead of isolating them.
