    French and Indian War

    The French fought the British for territorial rights along with both sides' Indian allies. This war was very expensive for the English and put them in immense war debt. Thus, they started taxing the colonies.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Forced France to give up their North American land to the British colonies. Ended the French and Indian War.
  • Boston Massacre

    A British soldier shot five Bostonian colonists in a mob harrassment. Caused by tensions being tight between colonists and the mother country, because of all the taxation without representation.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A merchantile protest of the Tea Act placed on the English settlers by Great Britian. Crates of tea sent by the East India Company were thrown into the Boston Harbor.

    American Revolution

    North American colonies fought against Great Britian to gain their indepence from the country. The colonies won, gained their freedom, thus starting a new chapter for America.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Stated the reasons they were declaring independence from the King and his country. Wrote what they strived for with their new freedom.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Peace treaty between the British and Americans that granted American independence. Ended the American Revolutionary War.
  • US Constitution

    The Constitution was written to be the supreme basis of all law. The articles discussed each branch of power and their checks and balances.

    George Washington Presidency

    George Washington was the First Preseident of the United States. He was voted to lead the country unanimously with John Adams as Vice President. He set precedent with every deed and directed the new United States.
  • Judiciary Act

    Established a federal judiciary system. Enacted by the First Congress to make Courts, such as the Federal District Court and the Circuit Court.
  • Bill of Rights

    A set of 10 amendments that were unalienable, guaranteed rights and could not be taken away.
  • Invention of the Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney patented a machine that removed the seeds from cotton plants, speeding up the harvesting process immensely.
