  • The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening, a series of religious revelations that swept up America, began in the early 1730’s and carried on throughout all thirteen colonies till the late 1740’s.
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War, which can also be known as the Seven Years’ War, was a conflict between France and Britain after France started making settlements in North America. The British started to feel a shift in the balance in power and they didn’t like it, thus the war on France begun. This war ended in 1763 with the Treaty of Paris.
  • Royal Proclamation Line

    Also in 1763, a Royal Proclamation Line was issued by King George III, which outlawed colonists from crossing over the Appalachian, to prevent interaction with the Native Americans after the French and Indian War.
  • The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts, a series of four acts that placed extra taxes on certain imports, was established by British Parliament on the American colonies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party occurred on the Boston Harbor due to the British government placing a ridiculous amount of taxes on imports like tea. This event consisted of the colonists taking the crates of tea and throwing it into the Boston Harbor. This event acted as a catalyst for the upcoming American Revolution.

    The American Revolution Begins. Also known as the American War of Independence, Americans were tired of being ruled under cruel tyranny and of the absurd amount of taxes being placed on imports from Britain. The Revolution began with the first battles of Lexington and Concord.
  • Declaration of Independence Signed

    The Declaration of Independence is signed, which set the first collection or morals and values for America, it explained why the colonists should be set apart from British ruling.
  • Battle of Yorktown (American Revolution Ends)

    The Battle of Yorktown between the British and the colonists occurred, and the British surrendered, officially ending the American Revolutionary War. Following this in 1781, the Articles of Confederation were ratified. This meant that the U.S. government successfully defeated the British at war, and that the U.S. officially gained independence from Britain.
