    Joint-Stock companies who were trying to settle the east coast

    The Plymouth company sent 100 men to establish a colony in Maine. They failed within a year and the Plymouth company never made another attempt at colonization.

    The first settlers from the London company arrive at Camp Henry

    The French establish Quebec as a city

    The London company acquires the land grant of the Plymouth Company

    The Spanish Establish Santa Fe
  • First Virginian Tobacco

    John Rolfe plants tobacco in Virginia
  • Women, Africans, and Law! Oh My!

    Women arrived, the first African Slaves arrived, and the House of Burgesses was founded.
  • African Slaves

    The Dutch were the first to bring African slaves to the New World. They were primarily treated as indentured servants at this point.
  • The Mayflower

    100 Pilgrims start off towards the new world, but land in the winter. This kills half the remaining settlers.
  • Plymouth

    The remaining pilgrims moved ashore permanently and established Plymouth
  • Good Friday Assault

    A group of Native Americans launched a surprise attack on the English killing 1/4 of the colonists
  • Holland Settles in the New World

    The first settlement of Holland, New Amsterdam, is established
  • Virginia Becomes a Royal Colony

    The King terminates Virginia's charter making it a Royal Colony
  • Maryland

    Established as a Roman Catholic society who bought their land from the Native Americans
  • Connecticut

    Founded by Thomas Hooker after a disagreement between him and the Massachusetts Bay Colony's leaders
  • New Amsterdam: Turning Point

    Families moved to the colony, establishing it as a permanent residence for people. It profits from Timber, Fish, and Tobacco. The city also made a lot of money from the people with Brothels and Taverns.

    Puritan Revolution

    The Puritans rebelled against and defeated King Charles 1, so the beheaded him.
  • Peter Stuyvesant

    He finds New Amsterdam in chaos, so e helps fix it. He takes charge and the city grows even more.
  • Massachusetts Law

    Real laws and liberties are formed
  • Navigation Act of 1651

    Meant to end Dutch trade in New England, but it isn't enforced until the French and Indian war
  • Navigation act of 1660

    Tries to limit trade in English territories to just be between English territories
  • Staple Act

    Forced all European goods to pass through England before going anywhere else (not enforced until French & Indian war)
  • Carolina

    The colony was founded and had a widely unaccepted constitution and ran almost everything through slavery
  • New York and New Jersy

    The land of New Netherlands was claimed by the Duke of York who then gave part of the land (New Jersey) to Sir George Carteret and Lord Berkeley
  • King Philip's War

    A quick war with the Native Americans that was caused by colonist's want for land and trade differences
  • Plantation Act of 1673

    Trade between colonies has a tax on it (Not enforced until French & Indian war)
  • Bacon's Rebelion

    Nathaniel Bacon and his small militia indiscriminately attacked the Native Americans and burned Jamestown before dying of dysentery the next year.
  • New Hamshire

    It was founded as it's own colony, but became a part of Massachusetts until Charles II separated the two and made New Hamshire a royal colony.
  • Pennsylvania

    Quakers settled Pennsylvania and immagined as a Utopia
  • New York

    Becomes a royal colony through the Charter of liberty and privileges
  • Monmouth's Rebellion of 1685

    James Scott launched a failed attempt to claim the throne from King James II. All of Scott's followers were either killed, imprisoned, or set to the New World.

    Glorious Revolution

    A bloodless coup that successfully overthrew the king, and then established the English bill of rights.
  • Navigation Act of 1696

    Established courts within the colonies to help enforce all of their past acts. However, the courts being in the colonies made it so they didn't help England at all
