Japan's Far East Bloomers continued to dominate tournament play with a 10-0 Gold Medal victory over the North American Liberty Belles. This is Japan's second Phoenix Cup title in as many years. Taiwan defeated Korea 12-8 to take the Bronze Medal. The North American Liberty Belles joined teams fromHong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Australia to compete in the 2009 event. This is the the tournament's 2nd year.

The Eastern Women's Baseball Conference will host its 4th Baltimore-Washington Invitational (BWI) Diamond Classic on May 23-25.
There will be two divisions:
Girls (15U) & Women's (Open) -
USA Baseball will host the 2009 Women's National Championship (WNC) in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. The WNC will feature a minimum of six teams (tournament must have at least six paid teams by April 1, 2009, to move forward) . Each team will be guaranteed at least five games.
Team entry fee: $1,500.00
The gold and bronze medal games will be played on the NTC Stadium field. -
The Women%u2019s Baseball Hall of Fame Classic will again return to Kenosha, WI over July 3-5, 2009. Historic Simmons Field, former home to the AAGPBL, will serve as the flagship field for this event. Entry fee will be $800/team for a four-game guarantee.

The Philadelphia Women's Baseball League will host its 3rd Liberty Bell Classic on Labor Day weekend - September 5-7, 2009. The tournament is played at Richie Asburn Field in South Philadelphia. More details will be posted soon.
