A blood war over Spains control on smaller islands in the Caribean. The US help Cuba and the Phillippines stand up to Spain and helped them both gain full control of their countries. Both countries won but also lost many lives in the process. The Philippines paid the US $20 million for the help they gave to them throughout the war. -
Annexation of Hawaii
In July of 1897 Hawaii was granted self-governance and became the Territory of Hawaii. Even though most of Hawaii's population disagreed with the governments vote to do so. -
The Boxer Rebellion
Boxers attacked Western Missionaries and traders in northern china, killing more than 200 people. In Augaust after many weeks of fighting international forces rescued the foreigners. -

From the early stages of planning until the first passage through the Canal the US stayed with the building of the canal the whole time. The Us believed that a canal was needed though Central America so when traveling ships did not need to go around South America. The building took many years and tons of man hours. -
Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty
This gave the United States complete control over a 10-mile Canal zone to build the Panama Canal. -

It stated that if a country keeps order and pays its obligations that country doesn't need to fear the US interfering with its government. -
