  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act was one of the first acts placed on colonists in order to raise more tax money after Britain spent so much on the Seven Year's War. This act placed a tax on molasses and sugars.

    The British Parliment imposed direct tax on any type of stamped paper, this created issues with the Colonists because writiting letters was a necessary need for communication
  • Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts of 1767 put tax on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. This upset the colonists . In result of the colonists violent outbreaks, the British sent more troops to the colonies to attempt to calm them.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    One night, the colonists started to harass the British guards. They soon started to throw rocks, mussel shells, and snowballs at them. A British soldier shot, creating chaos and more shooting, and at the end of the night six colonists were dead. This was one of the causes of the Revolutionary War.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The British told the Colonists that they were only allowed to buy tea from only one company. This led to the Boston Tea Party which was a group of Colonists who destroyed the shipment of tea going into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Interable Acts was a series of laws that were passed by the British Parliament. These acts angered the colonists causing a vast majority of the colonists wanting to be freed from the rule of Britain.
  • Continental Congress

    Continental Congress
    Delegates assembled at Philadephia's Carpenters Hall. Twelve of the thirteen colonies sent delegates. They wanted to right the wrongs that were imposed on the colonies, originally with peaceful intentions, however they didnt succeed.

    Patrick henry presented a propsal to make a volenteer calvery in every Virginia county. Even though the listeners didnt grasp what he meant at the time, they never forgot his closing words "give me liberty or give me death"

    William Dawes and Paul Revere's Midnight Ride
    Paul Revere rode through the country side to the colonist that the british were coming. William Dawes mission was to ride out and warn John Hancock and Samual Adams thar they were in danger of being arrest and charged of being traitors.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the first military engagments of the american revolution war. About 700 British army regulars were given secret orders to capture and destroy milatary supplies of the Patriots to try to end the rebellion before it started.
  • Battle of Ft. Ticonderoga

    Battle of Ft. Ticonderoga
    New York fort for the British was poorly guarded, when the Ethan Allen and the Green Mountian Boys sezied the camp it stalled a planed British invasion from Canada which enabled American troops to invade canada themselfs. However, Benedict Arnold wasn't given any credit for his role and had to clean up the mess that Ethan Allen and his group left behind.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle took place mostly on Breed hill but the Battle was named for the adjecent hill named Bunker hill. The Americans were out numberd and the british won and drove the American back to Charleston after their first two attempts failed.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The British army was atempting to arrest patriot leaders and some minutemen were killed. The Redcots once again stormed through boston and the second Continental congress for one last peaceful attempt of reconcile with the British
  • Siege of Boston

    Massachuetts and the continental army had surrounded British forces. Howe, seeing his loss was going to happen soon, he withdrew troops from Boston.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Continental Congress felt that they were going to officially declare America's independene from Britain, so they created this document saying what the king had done to violate their rights and to say how they are their own country.
  • Battle of Trenton

    George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River through the night and surprised the Hessian forces and defeated them in the battle by catching them off guard.
  • British Capture of Philadelphia

    The British attacked the city, after many people evacuated, and captured it two weeks after the Patriot loss at Brandywine Creek.
  • Seige of Charleston

    After four weeks of British Seige on Charleston, they managed to capture the city.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    George Washington finally won a major battle, coincidentally, this battle that he won was one of the most major battles of the war, and with the large loss of British troops, it was the final battle of the Revolution
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This officially stated America's freedom from Britian. Under the new terms, Britain understood that the United States was a free country now. It said that Britian has to remove all of their troops and set up new borders for America and allow them to progress west of the Appalachian Mountains.
