French and Indian War

  • Washington defeats the French at Fort Duquesne

    The first battle between France and Britain, it was fought over the Ohio Valley, and marks the beginning of the war
  • Albany Conference

    Albany Conference
    A conference to keep the Iroquois Indian loyal to the British. It's long term effect was to unite the colonies
  • Washington surrenders at Fort Necessity

    In retaliation to Britain's victory at Fort Duquesne, the French send out reinforcements and defeat Washington, angering Britain and causing the British to uproot some fourthousand French Acadians
  • Battle of the Monongahela

    Battle of the Monongahela
    General Braddock goes out to recapture Fort Duquense, but they run into the French on their way there and are defeated. Washinton is wounded, and Braddock is killed.
  • War is officially declared

    Britain and France officially declare war. The declaration of war also sends the allies of Britain against the allies of France, spreading the War from America into Europe.
  • William Pitt becomes Secretary of State

    William Pitt becomes Secretary of State
    Pitt is assigned as secretary of state for Britain, and changes the leaders of the war from incompetent and cautious old generals to young and enrgetic ones.
  • Pitt takes Louisbourg

    Pitt takes Louisbourg
    Britain takes Louisbourg, severing a major port for supllies from the French
  • Wolfe takes Quebec

    Wolfe takes Quebec
    Pitt assigned Wolfe to conquer Quebec, and, after at first making poor progress, Wolfe succeeds, although the battle costs him his life. This victory forces France to retreat to Montreal
  • Montreal falls

    The French surrender Montreal, their final stronghold in America, significantly weakening the French.
  • Peace settlement in Paris

    The French surrender to the British, ending the war. The French are allowed to keep a few Islands, but was forced to give up Kouisiana and New Orleans to Spain in compensation for the loss
