    Louisiana Purchase
    France controlled most of the land from New Orleans to the Great Lakes and some of the land northwest of Modern day Montana. When the Spanish revoked U.S- Spanish treaty that allowed the U.S. to store goods in New Orleans. In April 1803 before James arrived in Paris to aid in the purchase France offered to sell the whole territory. At the end of April the U.S. paid $11,250,000 and assumed the territory. They bought 828,000 sq. mi. for under 3 cents an acre.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was used to relieve tension form people who supported slavery and people who didn't. They also made so an all out war wouldn't break out. The northern state's leader was Rufus King. The southern states were led by William Pinkney. The Missouri Compromise was also debated because it implied that congress could control slavery laws. Finally in 1820 an agreement was made.
  • California Gold Rush

    California Gold Rush
    The whole that started the big event called the gold rush was just some little nuggets of gold. When information spread about these gold nuggets thousands upon thousands of people came rushing to California. There was approximently $2,000,000,000 worth of metals there. It reached its climax in 1852 thats when most of the metals were extracted.
