(won't let me type 770000 BC)
The discovery of fire so many years ago is the first known creation of energy by mankind, which is why it is important. -
The Chinese first used fire as an energy source to cook food in 2000 BC,
-
Water was first used an energy source in Europe around 2000 BC.
-
Windmills were first used in 1000 AD as a way to draw energy from the wind!
-
In the 1600s, the British discovered how to burn coal and use it as an energy source.
-
In the 1820s, the first natural gas well was drilled in Fredonia, New York! This led way to the discovery and importance of natural gas.
-
In the 1830s, the electric generator and motor were invented. These helped create the base for the industrial revolution, which was when innovations in energy really took off!
-
In 1860 Auguste Mouchout built the first solar energy generator. He made this using a mirror!
-
In the 1890s, Nikolas Tesla invented the alternating current system of electrical generation, which became the standard form of energy across the world.
-
Lastly, and in my opinion most importantly, we have the 1980s where scientists discovered that natural gas is very harmful to the environment, and renewable energy sources are much more healthy and safe, and they will never run out!
