This is substantial to multicultural education because it was the first school to accept these students while giving them an environment that sets them up for success.

    The Civil Rights act becomes a law. This act forbids discrimination based on sex, religion, race, color, or origin. This changed multicultural education for many reasons one stands out most which is that fact that discrimination became illegal. A student regardless of background or culture was given the same opportunity as every other student.

There were 3 million refugees in the United States and amongst those were children with special needs. This changed Multicultural education because there was a system set into place to help with the admissions of these students.

    The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1990 was the first reform to increase the annual immigration to 700,000 which added to the diversity of the schools. This act also provided visas for the families. This helped the multicultural education process by allowing more immigrant children the chance at equal education in this country.

    President Bill Clinton signs the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 into law on September 30th. This act prohibited states from giving higher education opportunity to children based on their residency within a state. This was substantial to multicultural education because it was giving all children the same chance at education despite where they were living or what neighborhood they were growing up in.

    On January 8, 2002 the controversial No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law by President George W. Bush. This law replaces the Bilingual Education Act of 1968. This act held schools responsible for student testing and making yearly progress towards student achievement levels. This act helped multicultural education because there was now a standard for yearly progress ensuring each student was receiving the adequate amount of resources to help them succeed in school.

It is not the law to require schools to check the immigration status but Alabama despite all prohibits the enrollment of "Illegal Immigrants". This shapes multicultural education because this school now prohibits children without a legal visa from going to school at this school. This mean that other schools bandwagon and join in on the prohibition of illegal immigrants in school.

    February 22nd President Donald Trump revokes the Obama administrations transgender bathroom directive. This sets back the multicultural education because certain students that might identify as one gender but has the other genders parts in segregated from using the bathroom they identify with.
