Missouri Compromise of 1820
The Missouri Compromise of 1820 led to the Civil War because it created a problem with Northern States about allowing another Slave state join the South. The Congress agreed to admit Missouri as a slave state but at the same time made Maine free. It gave equal representation of free and slave states. It didn't allow the remainder, North of the line of 36-30 Southeren boundary of Missouri. -
Nat Turner Rebellion
Nat Turner led a rebellion in Southhampton County, Virgina and killed white men, women and even children. This rebellion terrified many Southern whites. This rebellion led to the civil war because after the rebellion it caused Southerners to pass new slave laws. -
Mexican War
James K. Polk had started the Mexican war, his plan was to takeTexas, New Mexico and California. Northerners believed that the attempt to gain the states, was to get more slave territory. I think this led to the civil war because the Northerners believed that south would recieve more territory to spread their slaves and Northerners did not want slavery allowed. The gain new states caused a disagreement on if slavery will be allowed or it would be a free state. -
Compromise of 1850
The compromie of 1850 involved Calhoun, Webster and Clay about what North and South should recieve after gaining land from the Missouri Compromise. The North recieved California as a free state, slave trade was prohibited in Washington D.C, Texas lost the boundary dispute with New Mexico and the south gained slavery in Utah and New Mexico. This led to the Civil War because even though it was an agreement, the South was still upset that slavery was not allowed to spread. -
Uncle Toms Cabin- Novel
Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote the novel it was first issued in the abolitionist newspaper. The north wanted to abolish slavery after reading the novel. The south got angry and felt threatend.Uncle Toms Cabin had an impact on the Civil War because it had different views on how slaves were being treated. -

Kansas- Nebraska Act
Senator Stephen A.Douglas proposed a bill that the Territory of Nebraska would be divided territories. Slavery would be settled by popular sovereignty. The act got rid of the Missouri Compromise which angered the people against slavery. This led to the Civil War because after the violence it ended up leading to Bleeding Kansas. -

After the compromise of 1850 proslavery and anti slavery struggled to gain Kansas. It was a battle between proslavery and antislavery which the antislavery won.The Bleeding Kansas led to the Civil War because it caused violence in Kansas. -

It was a campaign to become the Senate. Lincoln believed slavery was morally wrong, he wanted to prevent the spread of slavery. Douglas was all about popular sovereignty. Douglas won the election. The campaign had a huge impact that led to the Civil War because Linccln and Douglas had different views which caused North and South to pick sides.
