    Missouri Compromise of 1820
    The Missouri Compromise of 1820 led to the Civil War because it created a problem with Northern States about allowing another Slave state join the South. The Congress agreed to admit Missouri as a slave state but at the same time made Maine free. It gave equal representation of free and slave states. It didn't allow the remainder, North of the line of 36-30 Southeren boundary of Missouri.

    Nat Turner led a rebellion in Southhampton County, Virgina and killed white men, women and even children. This rebellion terrified many Southern whites. This rebellion led to the civil war because after the rebellion it caused Southerners to pass new slave laws.

I think this led to the civil war because the Northerners believed that south would recieve more territory to spread their slaves and Northerners did not want slavery allowed. The gain new states caused a disagreement on if slavery will be allowed or it would be a free state.

The North recieved California as a free state, slave trade was prohibited in Washington D.C, Texas lost the boundary dispute with New Mexico and the south gained slavery in Utah and New Mexico. This led to the Civil War because even though it was an agreement, the South was still upset that slavery was not allowed to spread.
