Mar 1, 1877 Missouri River flooded and changed course leaving 1,600 acres of Iowa land in Nebraska now known as Carter Lake. Jan 1, 1915 Telegraph service was introduced to Omaha. Jan 1, 1950 College world series was first held in omaha Jan 1, 1955 Omaha Cardinals joined AAA baseball league. Jan 1, 1961 Dodgers made Omaha the Omaha Dodgers, their AAA team. Jun 2, 1975 Omaha hit by worst tornado in thei history. Dec 4, 1975 Omaha was hit by worst blizzard in their history. Mar 2, 1988 ConagraFoods moved headcourters to Omaha.
