When Sookan was running away she souldn't find her mother and lost her guide. Luckly a few weeks later an old man offered help and by his directions she made it under the fence, showing the border line of north and south Korea.

Finally after Sookan, her younger brother, and her mother ran away, Sookan's family'sfinally back together. Sookan's mother was going to be sent to russia to work as a slave, But secretly was a russian guard's maid servent. She finally escaped later.
